At 9:31 pm, a 30-year-old male was struck by a 2001 Toyota Camry as he made his way across the Billy Graham Parkway. Police report that the man was transported to Carolina’s Medical Center and died of his injuries at approximately 2 am Tuesday morning. Speed was apparently not a factor in the accident, though the pedestrian was intoxicated and was attempting to cross the Parkway without using the cross walk. The notification of the next of kin has not yet occurred as the victim has not yet been identified.
As is often the case with accidents, the damage caused goes far beyond the obvious injuries and fatalities. Families will suffer the loss of loved ones for the rest of their lives. Beyond even the emotional and physical trauma is the financial loss incurred in such cases. Hospital bills, medication, funeral arrangements as well as loss of income all compound too create an even heavier burden for the families of victims to struggle with.
