How to Obtain Your Lexington Police Accident Report

Your Police Accident Report is a document composed of the Investigating Officer’s findings. This report will be filed electronically, requiring your input to get a copy. There are generally notations listing contributors to the accident, along with a diagram or drawing to define the location of impact and any visible vehicle damages.

The Records Division of the Lexington Police Department has provided us with the following information and points of contact to assist in the acquisition of your Police Accident Report.

The report is free and available 48 hours after taken for any person listed on the collision report, and $3.00 for non-involved parties. All requesters must fill out Lexington’s Freedom of Information Request and provide a picture identification. The report request must be ordered in writing, in one of the following ways (see full instructions included in the corresponding sections below):

The report can be requested by fax, along with a completed FOIA form and a copy of your ID. You will receive the report by mail in return.

Your Police Accident Report can be requested in the following manner and will be returned by mail. Please include a written letter with the date of the accident, driver’s name, case #, and a copy of your ID, mailed to:

If your traffic accident took place on the Interstate, you may download and mail in this Request for Officer’s Report (SCDMV Form FR-50) from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Fill out the form as completely as possible and sign. Send 2 copies along with a check or money order payable to SCDMV for $6.00, to the address below:
