How to Obtain Your Hartsville Police Accident Reports

Getting a Copy of Your Police Accident Report 

After an accident, you will want to obtain a Police Accident Report for evidence, which is a compilation of the Investigating Officer’s findings. This report is filed electronically, and your participation is required to get a copy. There may be notations listing the contributors to the accident. A diagram or drawing might also be included, to show the point of impact and any visible damages to vehicles involved.

The Records Division of the Hartsville Police Department has provided us with the following information and points of contact to assist in the acquisition of your Police Accident Report: 

Your Police Accident Report may only be requested in person or by mail (see sections below). There is no fee for involved parties in the accident, but there is a $5.00 fee for outside parties who are additionally required to file a FOIA Form (see Online section). Persons other than the insurer and attorney will receive redacted copies.

You may request your Police Accident Report by sending a letter including as much of the following information as possible. When the report is ready you will receive a hard copy by return mail.

Should your traffic accident have taken place on the Interstate, you may download and mail in this Request for Officer’s Report (SCDMV Form FR-50) from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Fill out the form as completely as possible and sign. Send 2 copies along with a check or money order payable to SCDMV for $6.00, to the address below:
