One person is dead in Oconee County after a head-on crash on Saturday afternoon, October 23.
Authorities say the accident occurred on Sitton Mill Road around 1:50 PM. A Hyundai Santa Fe was moving east, when it drove left of center, and hit a Honda Accord head-on. The Accord’s driver, Bridget White, 55, was taken to a local hospital, where she later died in surgery.
Head-on crashes can have many causes. The most common is distracted driving, followed by driving while tired, failing to adjust driving for weather conditions, using poor techniques when passing another vehicle, driving under the influence, and ignoring traffic lights or signs. Driving carefully and obeying traffic laws can help reduce the risk of an accident.
