5 People, Including Pregnant Woman Injured in I-85 Crash

Fast thinking by a tanker truck driver minimized injuries and other damage when the truck side-swiped a disabled vehicle on I-85.

The accident was still a serious accident that involved multiple vehicles.  The Interstate was shut down for several hours while police investigated and cleaned up the mess left by the tanker truck that was leaking fuel.

The disabled vehicle was being driven by a pregnant woman who hit debris in the roadway that caused a flat tire.  She stopped her vehicle on the interstate, and then was side swiped by the tanker truck.  Luckily, the driver of the truck was able to maintain control of his rig without jackknifing.

Multiple people were injured as a result of the accident and five of them were taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.  Three of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

An accident such as this one has many dynamics and sorting out who is to blame is not easy.  The driver of the SUV swerved after she hit something in the roadway.  The debris caused her tire to blow out and she had to stop the vehicle.  It is unclear whether she stopped the SUV in the roadway or in a safety lane.  Even though the truck hit the SUV it is unclear as to why?  Were there other cars that caused the truck to sideswipe the SUV?  Was the driver of the truck distracted by the disabled vehicle?

These questions are just a few of the questions that an auto accident attorney would investigate after a multi-car accident such as this one.  Determining liability determines who is responsible for compensating the victims for damages and injuries sustained as a result of the accident.

If you have been injured in an accident that was not your fault you are entitled to be compensated for medical bills, pain and suffering and lost wages that are a result of your injuries. Often times, there is lost wages from missing work for treatment of the injury.  If you use your vacation time to go to the doctor you are entitled to be compensated for this time.  Your vacation time should be used for fun things and if you must use them to avoid a loss in pay, you are entitled to be compensated for that loss.  We at Auger & Auger understand how accidents disrupt lives.  If you were involved in an accident let us help you build a strong claim against the parties responsible.  Call us today
