How to Obtain Your Fountain Inn Police Accident Report

One key piece of evidence you will want to acquire is your Police Accident Report; a compilation of the Investigating Officer’s findings at the scene. This report will be filed electronically and requires your participation to obtain a copy. It will most likely include notations listing contributors to the accident. Uninvolved parties may be asked to provide a Freedom of Information Act FOIA Request Form. These are available at the station or can be downloaded from their city website. Uninvolved parties may only be allowed a redacted copy (at the discretion of the Records Officer).

The police department is located just across the street from City Hall. Enter the lobby and request to speak with the Records Department. You will be expected to provide the date of accident, location, and involved parties names.

By Mail

A letter of request may be sent by mail, which must include the date of the accident, location, names of involved parties. Uninvolved parties must also submit a city FOIA form (available at the police station as well).

If your traffic accident took place on the Interstate, you will need to download and mail in this Request for Officer’s Report (SCDMV Form FR-50) from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Fill out the form as completely as possible and sign. Send 2 copies along with a check or money order payable to SCDMV for $6.00, to the address below:
