Where Do I Go to Get an Accident Report in North Charleston?

The Records Division of the North Charleston Police Department will help locate your accident report and for a $5.00 fee, you may request a copy be produced to you. This fee is payable by business check only, cash, or money order. Their headquarters is located at 2500 City Hall Lane, North Charleston, SC 29418.

You can go online to access your accident report for a nominal fee. Please visit www.northcharleston.org/Residents/Police.aspx and click “Access Accident Reports Online.” From this web page, please click “Search,” and you will be asked to enter state (SC), jurisdiction (North Charleston Police Department), name, date of accident, location, and report number.

By Mail

You may also mail in a request to Charleston Police Department by enclosing a request for your accident report and a business check or money order for $5.00 by writing to the following address:

Alternatively, you may mail in a Request for Officer’s Report (Form FR-50) to the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV). Be sure to include the date of the request, your name/mailing address, date of the accident, county of the accident, name of the driver(s) involved and driver’s license number. You must mail two copies of this form, and a check or money order for $6.00, to the address below:

You can always call the North Charleston Police Department at (843) 740-2800 and ask to speak with the Records Department. Any relevant information you have pertaining to your accident will be helpful to the records officer assisting you on your call; information can include your name, date of the accident, the report number (this is often given to you at the scene of the accident by the responding officer and often the first thing records officers ask for), and/or location of the accident.
