Our nationwide law firm is currently filing injury lawsuits against the manufacturers of Xarelto, Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Patients taking this blood thinning drug have suffered from uncontrollable bleeding, brain hemorrhaging, blood clots and other deadly symptoms.

The lawsuits allege that these drug companies failed to disclose the risk of the deadly side effects, considering that there is no known antidote for the uncontrollable bleeding caused by Xarelto. Not only did they fail to state on the warning label that there is no antidote, but their advertising compared Xarelto favorably over traditional blood thinning drugs Coumadin and Warfarin. What their advertisements and label failed to mention was that both of these traditional drugs had antidotes, Xarelto does not. Therefore patients taking Xarelto are far more likely to suffer grave injury or death as a result of a bleeding event.

Time to pursue a claim is limited depending on the statute of limitations in the state where you reside. If you or a love one have suffered adverse results from Xarelto, call us today for a free and confidential consultation to learn about your rights.

If you experience any of these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately

Xarelto Excessive Bleeding

Patients taking Xarelto experience a far higher risk of hemorrhaging, or severe bleeding. Hemorrhaging can be fatal or benign, if treated properly. Unlike most blood thinning drugs, Xarelto has no antidote to cause blood clots and counteract it, leading to fatal effects. Severe bleeding side effects include gastrointestinal bleeding, brain hemorrhaging, vomiting blood, blood in stool, blood in urine, rectal bleeding, bleeding from the gums, and excess bleeding from cuts or surgical wounds.

Xarelto Stroke Symptoms

Xarelto's ability to prevent strokes has come into question, and is pending FDA review One FDA reviewer recommended that the drug not be approved, and claimed that “The data do not convincingly demonstrate that rivaroxaban (Xarelto) is as effective in preventing strokes and systemic emboli (blood clots) as warfarin”. The reviewer claims that the benefit of Xarelto in preventing strokes is not greater than its counterpart, and therefore Xarelto's side effects are not worth the risk

Xarelto Blood Clotting

Unlike other blood thinning drugs, Xarelto was released with NO antidote. Without an antidote, excess bleeding is very hard to stop outside of a doctors office or hospital, and can turn fatal. Patients experiencing this can bleed out and die if they aren’t put on a dialysis machine in time to clear out the drug. Severe side effects may also require multiple blood transfusions and prolonged hospital stays.

Xarelto is an anticoagulant, or blood thinner, manufactured and sold by Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Xarelto was approved by the FDA in July 2011 for patients who received hip and knee replacements. In November, 2011, approval for its use expanded to patients with atrial fibrillation.

Prior to Xarelto, Warfarin, also known Coumadin, for 50 years was the drug of choice of choice for patients with these conditions. The downside with Warfarin was the continued monitoring and that patients had to take it twice a day. Weekly blood tests were required to adjust the anticoagulant dosages based on the blood’s reaction to the medication. The dosage was also effected by each patients particular health situation. The upside is that Warfarin has a simple antidote, Vitamin K, which will begin to slow the bleeding events within 4-6 hours.

Xarelto, is advertised and marketed as a one size fits all medication with no monitoring (weekly blood tests) and only requires the patient to take one pill per day. What they fail to mention is that Xarelto does not have an antidote and cannot be flushed out of the body. If a patient experiences bleeding while on Xarelto, there is little that can be done to stop it immediately. In many cases the uncontrollable bleeding is fatal.
