downloadA man who was known for dressing up as Batman, driving a custom Lamborghini made to look like the Batmobile and doing extensive charity work with children has been killed after being struck and killed by his own vehicle on Interstate 70.

Lenny B. Robinson, 51, of Baltimore, had been driving his custom black Lamborghini when it began experiencing engine trouble. Robinson pulled into the fast lane of the Interstate to investigate the problem and was standing in front of the vehicle when his car was struck by a Toyota Camry. The impact caused Robinson’s vehicle to strike him in a chain reaction. Emergency crews pronounced Robinson dead at the scene of the crash.

Robinson was also commonly known as the “Route 29 Batman. He first became famous when Montgomery County Police Department officers pulled him over while he was in his Batman costume and driving his “Batmobile” for having improper tags on his vehicle. Officers finally let Robinson go without ticketing him so he could reach an appearance he was making as Batman at a local children’s hospital.

Robinson would spend up to $25,000 per year on Batman-related items that he would give to children in the hospital. He will be missed by many in the community, including the officers who stopped him.

Lenny Robinson did much work to help make the world a better place for children in the hospital and their families. No one could have predicted the accident that would take Lenny’s life.
